Sick Days

                                                      She's a happy sick girl

Adeline has been sick. She has an ear infection, and a nasty barking cough. She is starting to sound a bit better. She was loosing her voice. So, if she cried or tried to coo her voice was gone.It was so sad to hear her try to tell me she was happy by babbling, or trying to scream because she wanted my attention now and for her not to be able to get it out was sad.  She is so stubborn when we try to give her medicine. She pierces her lips together, moves her head back and forth, and tries to swat you with her hands while her feet are kicking. I know some kids like it but to say she doesn't like it is an understatement. Having a sick child is scary. It makes me worry a lot. I remember the first time she was sick. When I took her to the Dr. she was congested, and had a cold but couldn't have anything for it. I felt so sad that my little infant was sick. I was upset with myself because I wasn't sure how she had got it.

Valentines Day & Congratulations

Love is in the air. Tim always teases me, and says he doesn't believe in Valentines Day. So, we usually have Valentines Week. Each day we try to do something small. This year I haven't been at my best to keep up the usual traditions of the week of Valentines. This year all Tim wanted was for me to make him a carrot cake, but not just any carrot cake. Dianna Boyce made it for us once, and it was a while ago. Tim has not forgotten about it he loved it and although carrot cake is not my favorite I actually really loved this recipe. I am really lucky because even though I haven't been good about Valentines Week. Tim has done some really nice things for me like surprise me and make me lunch, and just a bunch of other thoughtful things he knows I'd appreciate he's been doing. He then says it's Valentines Week. Also a congratulations is in order my mom got married. We are very happy for her.

5 Months Old

At five months she is such a sweet girl. She is 24 inches and weighs 18 lbs. She is interested in everything around her. She loves to touch, and is always curious about what I am eating. She loves being talked to, and sometimes demands attention. She wants to move so much. She is chewing on everything. My favorite is she tries to get my chin in her mouth. She finds tags on everything to chew on. She still wakes up happy in the morning, and talks our ear off. She has started crying when certain people talk to her. She gives the biggest smiles. When I put her in her bouncy seat she practically tries to sit straight up and not use the back rest. She loves taking baths. If she's fussy I could just take her in the bathroom, and she cheers up a bit. The anticipation of getting a bath is fun for her. She is always turning onto her stomach to sleep. She can roll over both ways, and is getting better at sitting up every day. She loves being outside, and laying on the grass. One of my favorite things is how she touches stuff. We have a tied quilt my mom made, and she loves inspecting the ties with her hands. Her little fingers and her curiosity are so precious.

She Swings

Today we went to story time, and to the park. I put Adeline in the swing for the first time, and she was loving it. She was relaxed, comfortable and happy. At first she was relaxed, and then towards the end she was into it more sitting up her hands on the edge of the swing. We went to the park with Haley and Danielle Post what a fun day. I was just going to keep Adeline in her stroller. I didn't even think she might want to swing. I guess I think she's still a little infant. Danielle mentioned they put Haley in the swing when she could sit up. Addie doesn't sit up perfectly yet but she's doing so well. I thought she should be able to swing.

Who do I look like?

Nicole and Santa

One of the conversations we have often is who does Adeline look like. Since she was born I thought she looked just like Tim. I know babies are changing so much it really is hard to say. I can see features of each of us. I think she has Tim's lips, eye color, forehead, and hairline I just can't wait to see her change. When she was born Tim thought she looked like me. His family said she looked just like my mom. My sister and her in-laws thought she looked exactly like Tim. It has been said by his family that she has his ears. I am not really sure what that means, but I think everything about you is sweet. Tim still says she has my nose. I still think she looks mostly like Tim, but I was looking at some baby pictures and thought hey she looks a bit like me. So time will tell who she really looks like.

Adeline & Jacob

                                                             Jacob & Adeline
Jacob is too cute. This is my sister's nephew. He loves Adeline. He says Ad-die so so so cute. We went to his gymnastics class a few Tim's, and have had a play date. After the play date he kept asking his mom where's Addie, and before we got there starting at 8 in the morning where's Addie.  He was playing and then I heard him say, "I love her" it was so sweet. He loves to rub her head. He knows my nursing cover, and has picked it up saying Addies' milk. He is going to be a big brother soon, and he's going to be such a big helper. Aren't kids too cute.

Happy Late Birthday Sister

                Keri and her daughter
                   Keri & her son Carson
If you don't know my sister you're really missing out. She is pretty much amazing at everything she does. She is the most organized person I've ever met. Her house is ALWAYS clean...even when she's pregnant. I don't know how she does it.  She has three amazing sons. Who she is so patient with.  She is beautiful, and a lot of fun. She is a great cook, and a wonderful aunt and sister. I sure am lucky. A few favorite memories...living in Redondo Beach with her and getting Baskin Robins double scoops. The super fun and amazing bridal shower she planned. As kids Saterday mornings watching wrestling, and making Dutch Babies, going to all of her soccer games. She is talented in many ways...I love her and am glad I live so close. On last favorite thing how she tells stories. She's the best!

Baby Sitters

All the photos from our scavenger hunt
Adeline is four month old, and we've left her three times now. Some of you may think I am crazy for one of two reasons why did I wait so long, and on the other hand crazy because I left her so soon. It was once for a sealing, we went to dinner and a movie, and then dinner with friends. We planned a dinner group, and did a scavenger hunt. We had a great time. I am still not sure who won, but I wanted to post some pictures. It's hard for me to leave her. Tim doesn't seem to mind as much. He is more laid back about that. However, he is very protective when other kids are around. He is very concerned, He wants to make sure they don't hurt her. I am not as protective in that sense. I just had a hard time leaving her when she was so small. Now that she refuses to take a bottle it's even harder ... I worry. My sister watched her while we went to our dinner groups her, and Carol (Tim's Mom) had been looking forward to watching her. My sister thinks Adeline is a piece of cake. She took a bath with her cousins. When she cried Mark gave her a new toy, and she was happy. She just sat in her seat all through dinner, and while Keri cleaned up. She was just watching them. Keri had to rock her for ten minutes, and then she was asleep. Beth watched her while we were at the sealing. She said she wined a little, refused the bottle and loved it when she talked to her. She commented on how social she thought she is going to be. I think Adeline might have been a bit tougher for Carol and Jerry when they watched her. They mentioned how she was laughing a lot when she was taking a bath with Lily. After she was crying a lot, and once Jerry finally got her to sleep he didn't want to move at all because he didn't want to wake her up. Here's a Thanks to everyone whose watched Addie!

Smiles & Sunny Days

What's going on in California it's January and about 70 degrees. So we got out Addies shades to block the sun. Yesterday we went for a stroll over to the fish hatchery. Adeline was all smiles. After we had a little photo shoot. Today is such a historical day...the first black president is getting sworn in. Addie, and Tim are sleeping through the first part of it. It really is a moment in history that won't be forgotten no matter what political preference you hold.

Teething, Shots & Sleep

Yesterday Addie got her 4 month shots...it really is so sad. I hate going. My sweet baby girl was in a bit of a funk after that. I think it started a while ago because she has been teething, and in a lot of pain. She really has been a bit crabby. As soon as she would fall asleep she'd sleep four about 15 min. and wake up in pain. She had about an hour of good sleep during the day yesterday. At night she's also waking up more because her teeth are bugging her. I started to train her to sleep, and then I thought she was too small, so I tried again last week...I thought it was failing because she was teething. I still continued...until of course our routine got a bit mixed up because of fun stuff going on. How to teach a small one to sleep that is our big task we're working on. The doctor said let her cry for five min. go in sooth her, NOT WORKING she gets even more mad. We're still doing it so we'll see.

Love Birds

Congratulations to Scott and Waldena. We love you guys! There wedding was on Saturday in the Sacramento Temple. Sealings are the best to go to. The sealer was long winded he gave them lots of good advice like learn to say "yes dear", and never go to bed angry. It was a very special day.

4 Months Old

This month I realized we needed to work on creating better sleep habits. So today we have been working on sleeping. Adeline is doing so good. She has cried going down, and it broke my heart. But she is learning really fast how to soothe herself. The great thing is when she wakes up she isn't crying she is cooing and really happy. That was the hard part this month. She has been so funny when she wakes up now she loves to blow raspberries lots of raspberries for a long time. She has almost mastered sitting up. She can stay by herslef longer each day probably 5-10 minutes. She is starting to get teeth on the bottom. She drools alot. She now usually has two to three fingers in her mouth. She has also discovered her feet, and is really interested in them. She weighs 15 lbs 10 oz. She is wearing 6-9 and 6-12 month clothing. She has loved it this month when we look in the mirror and make faces, and when I buzz like a bee. She can roll over both ways when she wants to. She is golden.

Almost Sitting Up

Okay every day something new...today she's just getting so good at sitting. Today I put her by herself, and she did so good. Needless to say she hasn't mastered the skill just yet. She's leaning in the photo, and after fell over. Don't worry I caught her.

Christmas and Christmas Eve

Christmas at the River House (Tim's Families)

Great Grandma Buhler and Adeline sporting some ribbon

Addie and Tim Christmas Morning

Our Little Family Christmas Eve

Adeline on Christmas Eve (notice the drool)
We had such a fun holiday. We spent Christmas Eve with my family, and some close friends. So, we exchanged gifts with them...Santa showed up. Addie slept through it unfortunatly. Adeline was spoiled. We had delicous food. We woke up and had cinnamon rolls that were delivered on Christmas Eve by the Pettingails. It was truely a nice suprise because I was going to make cinnamon rolls for us, and then I didn't have to. One tradition that we started this year was the 12 Days of Christmas it was so much fun. We mainly took treats. On the last night they left us a really nice note. On Christmas morning we woke up, and exchanged gifts...after we both showered and took pictures with the gifts. So, it was very enjoyable and then we opened gifts. Later in the day we went to Tim's families house. We had another delicious meal, and then exchanged gifts. So, we were all spoiled. I really love this time of the year. I think our new tradition the 12 days of Christmas made it even more special. I also love to make peppermint bark, and I dipped some jo jo's in chocolate (those are oreos with a little peppermint in the middle). I ruined fudge, and one batch of homemade suckers. I was really excited to bake, and got a little discouraged after the fudge...it became hot fudge. Oh well it still tasted good, but it is so disappointing when you use all of the ingredients, and then time and then it doesn't work out that usually doesn't happen to me.

Graduation Day!

What a wonderful day...Tim graduated yeah! To make the day even more special my brother-in-law also was graduating. He finished his MBA. I don't want to forget that it really is a miracle that he was able to graduate now instead of in May. Because at Sac State there was a 2 unit class that his department chair was going to make him take in the spring. Tim worked really hard to talk with him to explain he could take these two classes that were suppose to be taken consectively at the same time. However, the department chair would not budge at making any exceptions. I kept telling Tim to have faith and something would work out because of how hard he was trying to make it work. Lets just say I had lost hope because the semester had started, and I just figured it wasn't ment to be. Tim had also been working with the dean of his college. The first week of school to shorten a long story a miracle seriously happened, and he was allowed by the dean to take the course he needed to graduate. We are so grateful, and I am so proud of Tim and Mark.

The Mullet

It's a Wonderful Life

It was also a wonderful day...today I went to the grocery store. It use to be such a simple procedure. However, now it's defiantly more of a challenge. Good thing I like a challenge. Right now we live in an apartment complex on the third floor. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Because that's where we chose to live at Utah State so we never had to hear anyone elses noise. It's not that it was a bad idea for us it just makes getting the groceries in with Adeline tricky to say the least. I've included photos of all of our groceries so you could see how WONDERFUL it was that I made it up the stair baby, and groceries all in one trip. They were a bit heavy...I am not going to lie. But we made it.

3 Months Old

Adeline is three months old. I can't believe it. She is sleeping like a pro. I put her down at 9 or 10, and she will sleep until 3:30 or 4. I am told that is pretty good. She is rolling over. She loves to be held, but she also likes her time to stretch out and play. We can't decide if she's laughing yet. She gives this little cough that sounds like she's laughing. When I put her down she is just getting good at rolling over from her back to her belly. She swings her feet where she's almost all the way over, and sometimes she's almost there and flips back. Other times she rolls all the way over. Tonight she was also rolling from back to tummy, and then tummy to back...again and again. She just kept going back, and forth. She loves it. She's so much fun!

I thought Nursing is best

I know nursing is suppose to be best...THE VERY BEST that's why I worked so hard we worked so hard to figure it out. But get this I have to give Adeline a multi vitamin polyvisol. What is that all about? Nursing didn't come easy for me, but we were persistent and the final success is here. She is nursing great, and daily takes a mutli vitamin. I just find it amusing.

Crazy Day

Do you ever just have a crazy day. Mine was enjoyable, but for sure crazy. First off the enjoyable I went to lunch with Koreen (my friend). She works downtown so we met at creepville tasty. It worked out well because I had a DR. appointment down town. Well I don't go down town very often. So obviously I had my mapquest all out and prepared to take me to my two destinations and back home. Lets just say it didn't go as planned.

I drove down a one way street yes you read correctly I DROVE DOWN A ONE WAY STREET! In down town Sacramento with Adeline in the back seat. YIKES! I obviously didn't know it. I know sounds ridiculous how do you not know. There were only a few cars and they were on the side they should be on. However, it was lunch time the streets were full of people and everyone else knew it was a one way street. EVERYONE was staring at you know who ME. It was not only incredibly embarrassing, but unsafe to say the least. I got maybe a block or half way down a block (any distance down a one way street is too far) I finally realized when I saw a lady screaming and waving her hands. Okay I am not a ditz. I just had a bit of bad luck.

It didn't stop there...Walking in UCD Medical Clinic there was a criminal in all orange chained at the ankles Scary White Criminal SWC. I just saw the SWC...there was no interaction. I waited for two hours at the DR's office. Adeline was an angle...thank goodness. Wouldn't you know she waits to fill her pants until the Dr. is in the room. She smelled the whole place up. Last but not least I got lost on the way home. I mean really lost...ended up in South Sac SCARY. For those of you who don't know South Sac lets just put it this way I couldn't read any of the signs, the billboards were in another language as well and most windows had bars. (Okay there aren't really bars on all the windows but you get the point). Basically I drove a long ways in the wrong direction. OOPS hope tomorrow will be a bit better. Actually just safer.

New Family Christmas Stockings

My mom sent a gift a bit early...it was new stockings that coordinate for the whole family. If I were craftier I would've made them, but I thought it was such a special gift. I love them! Thanks Mom.

Happy Late Thanksgiving

For Addie's first thanksgiving we were at my in-laws. They worked really hard, and we had a feast. Thanks everything was very nice. We pretty much did the traditional stuff. Tim played in the ward or a wards turkey bowl. He brought me back the news paper so I could scope out any must have deals. I didn't find any. At 11:30 pm I met my sister, kelly and beth at the outlets and did some shopping it was crazy busy.

Look What Addie Can Do

Adeline is growing oh so fast. Now she can find her hands, and loves to suck on them. So, much that I always wonder if I am feeding her enough. She just likes it. She can pick up some of her toys. She can lift her head oh so nicely, and she can take a bath in a big girl tub. She is so funny because she's already becoming a bit particular she likes to be held facing out so she can see. If she has been held a lot (like at church) after if she doesn't get some time to herself to play and stretch out she gets a bit cranky. She also still loves to gibber gabber with anyone and everyone. Oh she makes me laugh because she is always seems so intent on what she is gabbering about. She is also loosing a little hair. Oh well it grows back...it's a bit of a mullet. I still know she's my baby because she still loves to be swaddled.
