Teething, Shots & Sleep

Yesterday Addie got her 4 month shots...it really is so sad. I hate going. My sweet baby girl was in a bit of a funk after that. I think it started a while ago because she has been teething, and in a lot of pain. She really has been a bit crabby. As soon as she would fall asleep she'd sleep four about 15 min. and wake up in pain. She had about an hour of good sleep during the day yesterday. At night she's also waking up more because her teeth are bugging her. I started to train her to sleep, and then I thought she was too small, so I tried again last week...I thought it was failing because she was teething. I still continued...until of course our routine got a bit mixed up because of fun stuff going on. How to teach a small one to sleep that is our big task we're working on. The doctor said let her cry for five min. go in sooth her, NOT WORKING she gets even more mad. We're still doing it so we'll see.

Poor little Addie...getting teeth is always hard on a little one. Hang in there with the sleep training, it is worth the effort you are putting in.

Teething is hard. I didn't even know with James, but it was really hard on Drew. I would give him some Tylenol before he went down to help him sleep. It's true, sleep training is worth the effort. Sometimes the boys had to cry for a WHILE, but they always figured it out and they have both been excellent sleepers. Crying is just expressing emotion and sometimes it helps them wind down...even though it is really hard to hear. I had to have my doc tell me that before I would let myself let them cry. I did all sorts of crazy stuff with James to get him to sleep until my chat with the doc. But with Drew, he just toughed it out. :) Guess that's what happens with the second. haha! Good luck!

How old would you start training them? I've read too much stuff.

Addie looks so cute! We want to give her chubby little checks a kiss.

With James I started at 4 months (or somewhere around there) and it took him about a week to get it down. The first night he just bawled...and so did I. I sat at the edge of my bed and cried until he fell asleep - and that took about 20 minutes. The next night was less and so forth. With Drew I started the day we came home from the hospital. :) I just started right out letting him learn to fall asleep on his own and he did great. It was so nice too because I didn't spend so much time trying to get him to fall asleep. The sad part was I didn't have as much snuggle time with him. Lucky for me he is a very lovey little dude and likes to snuggle anyway. :) It's hard, but you just do what's right for you and Addie no matter what the books or people say.
