The Hospital Stay

The New Family
Beautiful Adeline
Dad's Sleeping Spot for 3 Days
Addie likes to be swaddled, but only if her arms are out so she can move them. She had to have her hands right next to her face. She is still like that right now. Giving birth was an experience...We arrived at the hospital at 2 a.m. I was having one minute long contractions, five minutes apart for an hour. I took a bath, and then we decided we should head to the hospital. When we were walking in we saw another couple, and the woman could not even walk. They put her in a wheel chair to get her back to labor and delivery. When Tim and I saw this couple we debated doing a few laps around the parking lot. Because of the past false alarms, and I was in pain but I could walk and was worried this wasn't the real thing once again. Well we ended up going in after they checked me I was dilated to a 5. I decided to get an epidural and that took another hour and a half before I got it. By noon the following day I was dilated to a ten. From noon until seven that evening I pushed, or tried to pushing our darling daughter out. She did not budge at all much to my dismay. I had never thought I would ever have trouble pushing out my children because of my body shape. However, because of how her head was positioned (she was head down) but I guess I have a small pelvic bone she couldn't get through. So, at this point that is why I had to have surgery. I was terrified, and because of my pure exhaustion I cried when they said I needed to have a cesarean section. I only wished they could have told me a bit sooner. I was terrified to have surgery. Everything went smoothly; I told the Dr. before Tim came in that he gets a bit sick with this kind of stuff. So they got him a chair, and he held my hand. I was so sick throwing up during the surgery, and before through all of the pushing. I wasn't sure she was ever coming out, but we were so happy when she finally did. We were also surprised that she had hair. I immediately said Tim she looks like you...he said that he thought she looked like me. We look at her each day, and study all of her features it's hard to say and probably to soon. However, we have fun picking out features. I think she has Tim's lips, and forehead. Tim thinks she has my family's round head and eyes (with his blue coloring so far). We love her so much.

Wow, wow, wow! That is quite the experience. I would have cried too finding out I needed a c-section after 7 HOURS of pushing! So glad she finally made it out to play. She is just beautiful! Love those little cheeks and all the pink. This is such a precious time when they are tiny-tiners...seems like it doesn't last very long. Congratulations!

She is really so beautiful. Congrats and we're so glad everything went okay. I know any type of surgery can be terrifying but way to go.

I can't believe that the staff was so cruel--pushing for seven hours! She is beautiful; very much worth that difficult delivery!

Hey Nicole! She is SO cute! Congratulations and I am sorry about that delivery...that sounds less than ideal you poor thing! But, it seems like she was worth it in the end. (and i am still laughing about the body shape, you are so funny.)
